OneMove Technologies Inc. has settled a wrongful dismissal lawsuit the company received in the Supreme Court of British Columbia from Serge Salager, its former chief executive officer. Mr. Salager had claimed that a director of the company, Matthew Proud, made false accusations to have him removed as CEO. Mr. Proud then took over the CEO position himself.
Terms of the settlement are confidential, but Mr. Proud sent an e-mail to the company's employees earlier this month stating that the company had resolved the dispute out of court. The diplomatically worded message attributed the lawsuit to a simple misunderstanding. It stated that Mr. Salager had not done anything improper and wished him well.
The settlement comes just three months after Mr. Salager initiated the lawsuit, in which he sought damages stemming from his March, 2014, firing. Details are contained in a notice of claim he filed at the Vancouver courthouse on June 13, 2014. According to the suit, Mr. Salager, a native of France, first came into contact with OneMove in May, 2012. At the time he was living in the Bahamas and OneMove was a struggling TSX Venture Exchange listing, he said.
