MERREX RECEIVES COURT APPROVAL IN CONNECTION WITH PROPOSED PLAN OF ARRANGEMENT WITH IAMGOLD CORPORATION

The British Columbia Supreme Court issued a final order today approving the proposed acquisition of all of the outstanding securities of Merrex Gold Inc. by Iamgold Corp. pursuant to a statutory plan of arrangement. The arrangement was also overwhelmingly approved at a special meeting of Merrex security holders held on Feb. 22, 2017, by 99.97 per cent of the Merrex securities voted at the meeting on the arrangement.

Completion of the arrangement remains conditional on certain closing conditions customary for transactions of this nature pursuant to the terms of the arrangement agreement dated Dec. 21, 2016. Subject to the satisfaction or waiver of all such closing conditions, it is anticipated that the arrangement will be completed on Feb. 28, 2017.
