J.A.G. MINES LTD.: APPOINTMENT OF A NEW OFFICER

JAG Mines Ltd. is appointing Benoit Salvas as executive vice-president, head of business development. Mr. Salvas holds a master of science in economics (finance, mathematics and strategy) from the University of Montreal. He has extensive experience in the financial market, in management and in trading.

JAG and its subsidiary Olitra hold exploration licences for oil and natural gas on two properties located in the Lower St. Lawrence and in Lac Saint-Jean. They offer great potential for the discovery of hydrocarbons. Nearly $4-million has been invested in exploration, this work being directed by Marc R. LaFleche, geologist at the INRS (Institut national de la recherche scientifique).

"Benoit's first mission is to ensure that activities resume on these properties, particularly in the Lower St. Lawrence, where recent discoveries have been announced," said Pierre Gevry, president of JAG.

In connection with his appointment and in accordance with Policy 4.4 of the TSX Venture Exchange, the board granted him an option to purchase 100,000 shares under the terms of the option plan in force within the company. This option is issued at a 10-cent exercise price and valid until Oct. 28, 2018.
