Stock Pickers Digest, in the August, 2016, issue, refreshes its buy of Intact Financial Corp., recently $90.33. Stock Pickers said buy eight times from April, 2010, to March, 2016, at prices ranging from $42.95 to $92.22. Assuming a $1,000 investment for each of the eight buys, the $8,000 position is now worth $11,381. In this brief update, Stock Pickers says Intact has reached a final agreement with the Alberta government to offer insurance to Uber drivers. Uber is a ride-sharing service that lets customers call a car by using a smart phone app. Customers hire drivers through the app, and the drivers use their own personal vehicles (as opposed to a taxi). The service is quickly spreading across Canada. Stock Pickers applauds Intact's efforts to invent insurance policies for new, but promising, markets. The stock remains a buy.
