Golden Share samples 38.5 g/t Au, 497 g/t Ag at Berens

2014-08-20 09:59 ET - News Release

Mr. Philippe Giaro reports

GOLDEN SHARE SAMPLES UP TO 38.5 G/T GOLD AND 497.0 G/T SILVER DURING FIELD PROSPECTING AT BERENS RIVER

Golden Share Mining Corp. has released results from its recent Berens River work program. As reported in July, 2014, the recent Berens field campaign focused on two aspects: lithogeochemistry sampling, mapping and prospecting notably in the area of DDH NZ-88-19 and at the southern end of the property. The current release presents the raw mapping and prospecting surface outcrop grab sample results, which highlight three specific areas of the property as outlined below.

Southern intrusive

Three specific sampling areas highlight a mineralized system associated with the northern section of the Southern intrusive, a predominantly dioritic to quartz dioritic stock, locally hosting more granitic phases as described in the field. In the sampled area, this intrusive is approximately one kilometre wide with the Younge occurrence located on the west flank, while the Newconex and Geotest prospects are situated at the eastern margin of the intrusive. The mineralization consists principally in pyrite with occasional chalcopyrite, locally up to 50 per cent total sulphides. Specific to this area is the presence of arsenopyrite, from trace to massive pods. This mineralization is associated with northwest-trending shear zones and quartz veins parallel to a regional, multikilometre, northwest-trending structure. Highlights of the sampling are presented below.

Younge occurrence

  • 38.50 grams per tonne gold, 497.00 g/t silver and 5.10 per cent copper;
  • 26.10 g/t Au, 103.00 g/t Ag, 2.44 per cent Cu and 0.21 per cent zinc;
  • 23.60 g/t Au, 169.00 g/t Ag, 1.86 per cent Cu and 1.13 per cent Zn;
  • 21.10 g/t Au, 535.00 g/t Ag, 5.23 per cent Cu and 0.34 per cent Zn.

Newconex occurrence

  • 8.68 g/t Au, 19.50 g/t Ag and 0.29 per cent Cu;
  • 1.13 g/t Au, 28.10 g/t Ag, 0.29 per cent Cu and 0.21 per cent Zn.

Geotest occurrence

  • 5.81 g/t Au and 3.90 g/t Ag;
  • 5.20 g/t Au and 2.80 g/t Ag;
  • 2.11 g/t Au and 8.40 g/t Ag;
  • 1.55 g/t Au and 4.30 g/t Ag.

Senet-McCloskey

Two specific sampling areas are located in the volcanics approximately 250 metres east of the Southern intrusive. The mineralization consists principally in pyrrhotite with occasional pyrite, chalcopyrite and sphalerite under the form of disseminated to semi-massive bands hosted in a fine to locally coarse grained basalt. Highlights of the sampling are presented below. Old, unidentifiable drill core was found and a composite sample was taken for reference purposes.

  • Senet: up to 0.22 g/t Au, 5.10 g/t Ag and 0.15 per cent Zn/DDH composite: 0.34 per cent Cu;
  • McCloskey: up to 0.60 g/t Ag, 0.12 per cent Cu and 0.49 per cent Zn.

Berens south veins

Two specific veins inferred to belong to the Berens River main vein system were sampled approximately 2.5 km south of vein No. 3. The mineralization consists in up to 3 per cent pyrite and sphalerite in quartz veins and breccias up to 40 centimetres wide hosted in dacites and silicified tuffs. Highlights of the sampling are presented below.

  • Vein No. 9: 0.98 g/t Au, 36.10 g/t Ag, 0.09 per cent Cu and 0.25 per cent Zn;
  • Vein No. 14: 0.44 g/t Au, 13.10 g/t Ag, 0.20 per cent Cu and 0.35 per cent Zn; and 0.10 g/t Au, 40.50 g/t Ag, 0.04 per cent Cu and 0.61 per cent Zn.

The sampling was executed mostly in areas of known historical mineralization to improve geological understanding that was lacking from historical documents. Additionally, all areas have been the object of lithogeochemical sampling to further characterize the geological environments hosting the mineralization with modern methods and provide recommendations for future work. The table provides the complete list of assays from the recent campaign.

Lithogeochemistry and further detailed geological interpretation of mapping and prospecting results will be provided once all information has been thoroughly complied.

Golden Share's exploration programs are executed under the supervision of Laurence Huss, MSc, PGeo, qualified person as defined in National Instrument 43-101, vice-president of exploration of Golden Share. Philippe Giaro, PGeo, president and chief executive officer of Golden Share, qualified person for Golden Share, has reviewed and approved the content of this release.
