The International Speculator, in its July 7, 2014, issue, downgrades Goldquest Mining Corp. (recently 32 cents) to a hold from a buy. The newsletter said buy three times between Sept. 6, 2012, and Feb. 6, 2014, at prices ranging from 28 cents to $1.56. Assuming an investment of $1,000 for each of the three buys, the $3,000 investment is worth $2,127. The writer says Goldquest released numbers that show "positive economics" from its Romero discovery along the Las Tres Palmas trend in the Dominican Republic. However, the margins were not as good as he would have liked. The after-tax internal rate of return is a relatively low 15.1 per cent. The writer selects two reasons he likes the stock. First, there is plenty of "leverage to the upside" at higher gold prices, and the company is drilling targets with the potential to produce more high-grade discoveries. For now, he says it is best to wait and see how the story develops. Fellow newsletter writer Brien Lundin also likes Goldquest, saying buy in April, 2013, at 35 cents, and again in June, 2014, at 27 cents.
