GEOVIC APPOINTS NEW CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Geovic Mining Corp. has appointed Christopher A. Serin as chief financial officer, interim principal accounting officer and secretary, to replace Greg Hill, who resigned these positions to pursue other opportunities.

Mr. Serin has more than 35 years international financial and corporate management experience, mainly in natural resource industries. Mr. Serin has been a director and senior officer of a number of publicly listed junior mining companies. Among other positions, from 2002 to 2010, he was a director of Euromax Resources Ltd., a mineral exploration company focused in southeastern Europe, where he held a number of executive positions, including interim chief executive officer and chief financial officer. Previously he was CFO of Royal Oak Mines Ltd.
