Brien Lundin, in the August, 2014, edition of the Gold Newsletter, says he is ceasing coverage -- it means sell -- of Comstock Metals Ltd., recently three cents. He said buy Comstock in September, 2012, at 28 cents, and again in August, 2013, at 16 cents. Assuming a $1,000 investment for each of the two buys, selling the $2,000 position at three cents would yield a loss of $1,735. Mr. Lundin says the company had a small victory last month when it released a resource estimate for the VG zone at its QV project in the Yukon. The VG zone has inferred resources of 230,000 ounces of gold, according to the estimate. The newsletter editor says it is a good starting point for a mine, particularly since much of the mineralization is amenable to open-pit mining techniques. The problem is the company will need to prove up many more ounces at QV to make it a viable project. In the interim, the company's dismal stock price and the difficult financing environment make it hard for the Comstock to raise money for further development. Therefore, Mr. Lundin has decided to cease coverage of Comstock, although he tells his readers he will keep an eye on the company to see if it is capable of earning its way back into his portfolio in the future.
