Ms. Janice Davis reports
COMMANDER STAKES EXTENSION TO ITS SOUTH VOISEY'S BAY NICKEL PROPERTY
Commander Resources Ltd. has staked 460 claim units totalling 115 square kilometres at its South Voisey's Bay nickel
property in central Labrador. The company's property now comprises 713 claim units, or close to
178 square kilometres.
The South Voisey's Bay property is located approximately 80 km due south of the operating
Voisey's Bay nickel mine. The new claims have been staked to cover the remaining Pants Lake
gabbro complex in the South Voisey's Bay area prior to commencement of a planned geophysical
survey in the area. The Pants Lake complex contains host rocks with alteration and mineralization
styles that are similar to the Voisey's Bay hosts. Extensive work in the area was conducted in the
late 1990s, and recently Commander has consolidated several of the more promising properties into
one contiguous parcel with clean title.
Work permits are in place, and geophysical survey crews are anticipated to start work on the newly
acquired property in October. The company is also pleased to report that it has received a grant
under the junior exploration assistance program from the government of Newfoundland and
Labrador in support of this work.
