Former Scotia Capital Inc. employee Harold Bakke has dropped a lawsuit he filed in the Supreme Court of British Columbia over the partial loss of his $50-million book of business. He had claimed that Scotia Capital fired him for no good reason and attempted to take his clients. He said that he had to scramble to find a new job and move his clients over.
The end of the lawsuit is contained in a consent order filed at the Vancouver courthouse on July 27, 2017. The brief order simply states that the suit is dismissed, with both sides to pay their own legal costs. Lawyers for Scotia Capital and Mr. Bakke signed the order.

The order brings an end to a case that Mr. Bakke, 59, filed on July 8, 2016. He complained that Scotia Capital fired him from his job of 14 years with no notice and for no good reason. At the time he had a significant and loyal client base that had followed him from two prior jobs, he claimed.
