BIRD CONSTRUCTION INC. ANNOUNCES EXECUTION OF A DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT WITH PLENARY INFRASTRUCTURE ERMF GP INC. FOR THE EAST RAIL MAINTENANCE FACILITY LOCATED IN WHITBY, ONTARIO

Bird Construction Inc. is part of a joint venture that has executed a design and construction contract with Plenary Infrastructure ERMF GP Inc. to design and construct the East Rail maintenance facility for GO Transit. On Jan. 22, 2015, Bird announced that it was part of the consortium selected as the preferred proponent for the project. Since that announcement, the consortium has reached financial close.

The East Rail maintenance facility, located in Whitby, Ont., will consist of approximately 500,000 square feet of building space, fuel storage, approximately 16 kilometres of rail track, and other infrastructure that will provide maintenance, repair and additional storage for GO trains in support of GO Transit's planned service expansion. Design and construction will commence in spring 2015 with a scheduled completion date in late 2017.

In addition to its role as the managing partner of the construction joint venture, Bird will take a minority equity interest in Plenary Infrastructure ERMF GP Inc., the consortium responsible for the design, construction, financing and maintenance of the facility.
