The Investment Reporter, in its Nov. 14, 2014, issue, refreshes its buy of BCE Inc., recently $50.05. The Reporter said buy eight times from Feb. 13, 1995, to Feb. 15, 2000, at prices ranging from $43.37 to $173.25 (the stock split 2 for 1 on May 12, 1997). It said sell half on Feb. 28, 2000, at $160.75. Assuming an investment of $1,000 for each of the eight buys, selling half the $8,000 position at $160.75 would have yielded a profit of $7,985. The Reporter then said buy 20 more times from Sept. 29, 2000, to Aug. 8, 2014, at prices ranging from $23.06 to $49.65 (the stock split 4.2 for 1 on May 3, 2000, and 1.09 for 1 on July 11, 2006). Assuming an investment of $1,000 for each of the 20 buys and taking into consideration the $4,000 investment left from the Feb. 28, 2000, one-half sale, the $24,000 investment would now be worth $50,200. BCE has completed its acquisition of Bell Aliant; it plans to invest $2.1-billion in Atlantic Canada over the next five years. It will roll out broadband wireline and wireless networks to consumers and businesses outside main urban centres. BCE expects to offer 4G mobile service to over 100 small towns and rural locations by the end of 2015. The stock remains a buy.
