BCE's Amazing Race records third non-elimination leg

2014-09-03 02:42 ET - News Release

Mr. Cary Mignault reports

RYAN AND ROB SURVIVE AND SUKHI AND JINDER BARE IT ALL IN THE THIRD NON-ELIMINATION LEG ON CTV'S THE AMAZING RACE CANADA

Following tonight's third non-elimination leg of the season, all five remaining teams will race to Charlottetown in next week's episode of BCE Inc.'s The Amazing Race Canada, airing Sept. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and CTV GO. For the second time in three legs, co-workers Ryan and Rob were saved from elimination, this time at the pit stop on the rainy rooftop of the Belvedere overlooking Old Port Montreal.

Episode 9 recap

From the leg start in Paris, the race returned to Canada as the five remaining teams crossed the Atlantic to Montreal. At the roadblock, teams had to perform a series of complex driving manoeuvres at iCar motorsport complex, and then made their way to the detour, where they also had the option of taking the fast-forward, requiring teams to be live models for an art class and bravely posing nude. For the detours, teams chose to either taste and identify grilled cheese sandwiches at Le Cheese food truck, or master the technique of glass bead making at Espace Verre school and gallery. From there, teams raced to the Victoria Square metro station, where they found the clue to advance to the pit stop at the top of the Belvedere in the Montreal Science Centre.

Sukhi and Jinder completed the awkward fast-forward and then immediately dashed to the pit stop and won their first leg, earning the siblings two round-trip tickets on Air Canada to Milan, Italy, plus $3,000 on their Scotiabank gold American Express card.

Tonight's episode will encore this week on TSN4 (Sept. 3 at 12 a.m. ET and Sept. 3 at 9 p.m. PT/Sept. 4 at 12 a.m. ET), TSN2 (Sept. 4 at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT and again at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT), and CTV and CTV GO (Sept. 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. ET/PT) and is also now available on demand at CTV GO. All-new episodes of The Amazing Race Canada air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and CTV GO.

Tune in to Etalk Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. ET/PT for exclusive pit stop interviews from Montreal, with Sukhi and Jinder as they expose the details about their fast-forward, and Ryan and Rob discuss being saved again with another non-elimination leg.

Next week

Teams race to the birthplace of the Canadian Confederation, Charlottetown, where racers take a step back in time, but others step in something completely different (Sept. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and CTV GO). There is no horsing around as the race comes to a dead heat.

The five remaining teams competing for the biggest grand prize in Canadian television history are:

  • Alain and Audrey -- dating, Montreal;
  • Mickey and Pete -- best friends, Muskoka, Ont.;
  • Sukhi and Jinder -- siblings, Terrace, B.C.;
  • Natalie and Meaghan -- teammates, Scarborough, Ont., and Calgary, Alta.;
  • Ryan and Rob -- co-workers, Vancouver.

The four premier sponsors for The Amazing Race Canada are Air Canada, Chevrolet Canada, DQ Canada and Scotiabank.

Commissioned by CTV, Season 2 of The Amazing Race Canada is produced by Insight Productions in association with CTV and with the support of Profiles Television Productions.
