BCE promotes Amazing Race following non-elimination leg

2014-07-30 02:44 ET - News Release

Mr. Cary Mignault reports

RACE ON! NON-ELIMINATION LEG OF CTV'S THE AMAZING RACE CANADA LEAVES ALL REMAINING EIGHT TEAMS RETURNING TO CANADA IN NEXT WEEK'S EPISODE

Following tonight's first non-elimination leg of the season, all eight teams will race to the Yukon in next week's episode of The Amazing Race Canada, airing Aug. 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on BCE Inc.'s CTV and CTV GO. As revealed at the end of tonight's broadcast, Sukhi and Jinder were rescued from elimination at the pit stop under the dazzling lights in the Macau traffic circle, after a luckless turn at the Fan Tan gambling challenge put them at the back of the pack.

Episode 4 recap

From the pit start in Hong Kong, eight teams made their way to the gambling capital of the world, Macau, China, and raced to the ancient A-Ma Temple before heading to the world's highest tower bungee jump (233 metres/764 feet) at Macau Tower. Once back on the ground, teams chose one of two detours, collecting stamps in the maze of Macau's streets or learning a traditional Macanese dance. From the detours, teams had to learn how to correctly deal one round of the complicated Fan Tan gambling game, before heading to the pit stop under the blinking lights of Macau's casinos.

Natalie and Meaghan showed no signs of slowing down as they collected their fourth win a row, earning them two round-trip tickets in premium economy from Air Canada to Tokyo, plus $3,000 on their Scotiabank gold American Express card.

Tonight's episode will encore this week on TSN (July 31 at 12 a.m. ET/9 p.m. PT and Aug. 1 at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT), TSN 2 (July 31 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT), and CTV and CTV GO (Aug. 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and Aug. 3 at 5 p.m. ET/PT) and is also now available on demand at CTV GO. All-new episodes of The Amazing Race Canada air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and CTV GO.

Next week

The Amazing Race Canada returns home as teams fly to the mighty Yukon (Aug. 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and CTV GO). Natalie and Meaghan's express pass power play puts them at the centre of controversy. A dog-eat-dog competition heats up as the detour leaves an opening for underdogs to take the reins. A relentless roadblock sets its sights on one team packing.

The eight remaining teams competing for the biggest grand prize in Canadian television history are:

  • Pierre and Michel: twin brothers, Montreal;
  • Alain and Audrey: dating, Montreal;
  • Mickey and Pete: best friends, Muskoka, Ont.;
  • Sukhi and Jinder: siblings, Terrace, B.C.;
  • Natalie and Meaghan: teammates, Scarborough, Ont., and Calgary, Alta.;
  • Rex and Bob: engaged, Ashburn, Ont.;
  • Ryan and Rob: co-workers, Vancouver;
  • Cormac and Nicole: mother and son, Winnipeg.

The four premier sponsors for The Amazing Race Canada are Air Canada, Chevrolet Canada, DQ Canada and Scotiabank.

Commissioned by CTV, Season 2 of The Amazing Race Canada is produced by Insight Productions in association with CTV and with the support of Profiles Television Productions.
