The Financial Post reports in its Saturday edition U.S. President Barack Obama is such a BlackBerry fan that he got off a helicopter and ran back into the White House to retrieve his trusty smart phone. The Post's Armina Ligaya writes Mr. Obama had already crossed the White House lawn to board Marine One en-route to Las Vegas on Friday, but quickly stepped off and headed back into the building saying, "I forgot something," according to the Wall Street Journal.
He later returned to reboard the helicopter, and in response to reporters' questions about what he forgot, he replied, "My BlackBerry."
In 2013, Mr. Obama told reporters he could not use Apple's iPhone for security reasons.
BlackBerry, a pioneer in the smart phone segment, has lost market share over the years, mainly to Apple and Samsung. The company has recently pivoted its strategy to target enterprise customers in areas such as governments and financial services, and worked to increase its security offerings. BlackBerry closed Friday at $11.52, up 14 cents on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
