The Financial Post reports in its Thursday edition BlackBerry boss John Chen has written an open letter about its upcoming Classic smart phone, saying, "If it ain't broke don't fix it." The Post's Armina Ligaya writes the Classic, due out by the end of the year, incorporates some of the more popular features and form factors from its older devices, such as the BlackBerry Bold. "It's tempting in a rapidly changing, rapidly growing mobile market to change for the sake of change. But there's also something to be said for the classic adage, if it ain't broke don't fix it," Mr. Chen wrote in a post Wednesday on the company's blog. However, the Classic "screen is bigger and sharper" than in some of its previous devices, and "our application catalogue is growing." BlackBerry has been shifting its focus toward software, services and enterprise clients, rather than handsets, as part of its turnaround plan under Mr. Chen. However, he has said that in the short term it is sales of devices that will help to drive revenue as it aims to be profitable by the next fiscal year. BlackBerry is looking to cater to its traditional customer base with the Classic. BlackBerry shares closed Wednesday at $11.76, down 15 cents.
