Jay Taylor, in the April 10, 2015, edition of Gold, Energy & Tech Stocks, says buy Avalon Rare Metals Inc., recently 33 cents. This is the first time Mr. Taylor has recommended the stock. He has been hesitant to do so, he says, because to become fully informed, one needs to understand metals and their market applications. Still, he has become so concerned about growing geopolitical tensions and their effect on access to various metals that he thinks it wise to take a position in Avalon. The company has one of the most advanced-stage rare earth element (REE) deposits in North America, as well as the highest concentration of the most valuable rare earths, heavy rare earth elements (HREE). REE-hungry China, which is expected to start importing HREE in the next five to 10 years, recently started stockpiling REE. Given China's behaviour and the hostilities being experienced elsewhere around the world, Mr. Taylor believes that many materials, including REE, will face shortages. "Companies that can produce those products should be in the driver's seat," he reckons. Avalon expects to begin production at its Nechalacho REE project in 2018. Even before then, Mr. Taylor predicts that "we may be ready to see a major run in this stock."
