The Investment Reporter, in its June 27, 2014, issue, says buy Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., recently $30.41. The Reporter said buy 14 times from Sept. 3, 2004, to July 26, 2013, at prices ranging from $10.83 to $61.88 (the stock split 2 for 1 on March 16, 2005, and 3 for 1 on April 23, 2014). Assuming an investment of $1,000 for each of the 14 buys, the $14,000 position would now be worth a splendid $60,029. The company's dividend yield of 13 cents a share (after the 3-for-1 stock split in April, 2014) is a tiny yield of 0.4 per cent. When the yield falls below 1 per cent, the Reporter advises investors to sell some of the shares. That way, they can reinvest in stocks with much richer yields. While Couche-Tard remains a buy, investors who seek income above all else can take some profits and reinvest.
