AURORA SPINE ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF TINANO(TM) LUMBAR INTERBODY CAGES
Aurora Spine Corp. is launching the first wave of next-generation lumbar interbody cages. The ECHO MIS (minimally invasive spinal) interbody system (posterior lumbar interbody fusion) and ECHO XL MIS interbody system (oblique lumbar interbody fusion) feature Aurora's new TiNano titanium spray coating technology. TiNano-coated PEEK-OPTIMA cages will allow for the possibility of bone on growth due to its porous structure.
"I was privileged to be the first neurosurgeon in the United States to use Aurora's TiNano spinal fusion cages," said Luis Duarte, MD, at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Tex. "I was impressed with the technology because I believe these spinal cages increase the chance for stronger bone-implant interface, which could lead to less complications and faster healing. Traditional spinal cages are inert, that is, biologically inactive. With Aurora's new cutting-edge technology, I expect my patients to heal faster and obtain a more robust spinal fusion."
The TiNano surface is created by thermal spray technology of titanium particles to support osseointegration. TiNano-coated cages provide several advantages including: additional roughness and porosity, increased possibility of bone on growth, and enhanced radiographic visibility. TiNano will be available on all Aurora interbody cages, including cervical, PLIF, OLIF, TLIF (transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion), ALIF (anterior lumbar interbody fusion) and LLIF (lateral
lumbar interbody fusion).
"Aurora is changing spine surgery, and we are thrilled to launch a comprehensive line of titanium-coated PEEK implants," said Trent J. Northcutt, Aurora's president and chief executive officer. "The new TiNano interbody portfolio maintains our position at the forefront, introducing innovative, minimally invasive spinal implant technologies. We designed the TiNano-coated interbody cages to improve spine patient outcomes, drive continued surgeon interest and bolster our relevance as a key innovator in spine. We expect that the new TiNano interbody products will continue to stimulate increased use of our innovative ZIP MIS interspinous fusion implants."
