American Manganese outlines optimization testing

2016-12-16 07:34 ET - News Release

Mr. Larry Reaugh reports

AMERICAN MANGANESE INC. LITHIUM-COBALT RECYCLING RESEARCH PROGRAM UPDATE

American Manganese Inc. is expanding on the previously announced (Oct. 4, 2016) commencement of work under the reagent optimization and locked cycle scoping study proposal from Kemetco Research Inc.

  • The major tasks covered by this work program include:
    • Optimization testing for lithium cobalt chemistry, including:
    • Leaching tests to optimize reagent usage;
    • Optimization of product recovery;
    • Solid-liquid separation and washing tests on recovered products;
    • Integrate efficient water recovery technology;
    • Reformulation and characterization of products to reformulate cathode materials, and produce working coin cell rechargeable batteries;
    • Proof of concept of other lithium-ion chemistries (lithium nickel manganese cobalt; nickel cobalt aluminum), including leaching and precipitation tests to understand level of extractions that are achievable with more complex chemistries.
  • Locked cycle testing to quantify the increased recoveries of cobalt and lithium associated with solution recycling.

"The approved work program is scheduled for completion by the end of March, 2017, with the final report delivered by the end of April. The approved budget is just under $130,000 and is fully funded from the company's treasury," said Mr. Reaugh. The company will be reporting on the progress steps when received from Kemetco Research.

About American Manganese Inc.

American Manganese is a diversified specialty and critical metal company focused on capitalizing on its patented intellectual property through low-cost production or recovery of electrolytic manganese products throughout the world, as well as recycling of spent electric-vehicle lithium-ion rechargeable batteries.

Interest in the company's patented process has adjusted the focus of American Manganese toward the examination of applying its patented technology for other purposes and materials. American Manganese aims to capitalize on its patented technology and proprietary know-how to become and industry leader in the recycling of spent electric-vehicle lithium-ion batteries having cathode chemistries such as lithium-cobalt, lithium-cobalt-nickel-manganese and lithium-manganese (please see the company's March 31, 2016, press release for further details).
