If this getnleman had a strong case, he must have had bad lawyers in the beginning or a unlucky break. Barrick has a multi-billion deposit in Pascua Laama. They need to win this one.

Just like on Dead Wood, there always seems to be a wealthy Mr. Hearst muscling his way onto other peoples' claims with henchman in tow to do the dirty work.

One thing in common with most these cases is the poor property vendors get steamrolled by wealthy mining companies and have no recourse but to vent their stories in public forums. The mining companies then crush them is a series of vicious lawsuits based of false and misleading claims of "defamation". Of course, the legal system just about always favors big spenders in their own self serving "profession". The little guy doesn't have a chance. The mining industry is one of the most corrupt I have ever seen in taking possession of other peoples' property. Imagine if real estate worked this way.....

That would be John Felderhof of Bre-X Minerals, right (who was ably represented by Joseph Groia)? The same Bre-X which had a market cap of $6 billion, yet was worthless within weeks in 1997?
John Felderhof appeared at the PDAC convention in Toronto last year. I don't think that he got a strong ovation then.

“This is not a legal argument,” said Mr. Baird, the president of PDAC, who indicated he had not read Judge Hryn’s ruling. “This guy should have known what went on.”
That view was echoed by Jean Vavrek, executive director of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum. “People have a tough time accepting the judge’s ruling,” Mr. Vavrek said, adding he had not read it either. “It is hard to believe he didn’t know.”...

What's the point of prospecting in foreign mud countries if you need a local partner or representation to file land claims? Unless you can raise enough money yourself to develop a property you're forced to either sell out or JV with a larger mining company who circumvent you by dealing directly with the locals who have a penchant for forgery and fraud. To these mining scumbags small time prospectors are nothing but useful idiots who do all the grunt work in delivering new projects for free, less local bribery fees.

Anyone who fraudulently uses the Court to impose wrongful judgments against another party should be sent to prison and sued for significant damages.

It is amazing that Lopehandia is still finding suckers to listen to his fabrications.
I was in a group YEARS ago where a good guy was handing money to Lopendia.
We had an associate go to Chile to check Villar and the lawyers there, and found not one single fact could be confirmed.
Mountain West president is being played for a sucker like all the gullible greedy fools who have gone before that have been fleeced.

Newmont and Barrick is paying public company, Bullion Monarch Mining, since 2008 a Royalty Interest at the Nevada Carlin Trend which directly connects Nevada fraud to the Pascua Lama property. The total Royalty is about $10 Million already and the Bullion Monarch attorneys (Kirton & McConkie and their Reno associates) are on a contingency basis! This means Bullion is controlled by corrupt lawyers, like Barrick's Patrick Garver. Kirton & McConkie is directly associated to Patrick Garver (1993-2010 Barrick Corporate attorney) who just resigned based on Fraud on the Court both in Nevada and Chile.
Recent Wyoming Federal Complaints have been filed by Mountain-West Provo, Utah attorneys and an associate to Jorge Lopehandia (who wired $10,000 to Chile in 2002 defending his claim to title) with the absolute support by Dr. H. Clyde Davis PhD, geologist for the Mormon Church since 1966. Dr. Davis worked through S. David Colton, corporate attorney for Phelps Dodge Corporation back in 2002 to protect Lopehandia's claim to title with great success in causing delays.
