The TSX Venture Exchange gained 3.77 points to 657.14 Thursday. Ross Wilmot's halted NEX shell, Barksdale Capital Corp. (BRO), has cancelled its acquisition of GES Electric Aero Corp., a West Kelowna company that is developing engines for unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). The shell does not provide a reason for the cancellation, but it promises to "seek new business opportunities as they present themselves."

Now that the deal is off, Barksdale will likely resume trading. It has been halted since late February, when it announced the acquisition plan. Barksdale last traded at one-half cent. As of Dec. 31, 2015, it had a working capital deficit of $442,114, so the future remains uncertain.

Mr. Wilmot, a Vancouver accountant, restructured Barksdale Capital as a shell out of a Brazilian diamond explorer called Iciena Ventures Inc. In February, 2013, he rolled back Barksdale's shares 1 for 40, then sold a $200,000 private placement of Barksdale shares at 7.5 cents. Subscribers to that private placement would be down an unfriendly 93 per cent on paper today, assuming they still hold their shares. Among the subscribers were Mr. Wilmot, who bought 100,000 shares, and his fellow Barksdale directors Ken Taylor and Kurt Lahey, who each bought 50,000 shares.
