The TSX Venture Exchange added 6.01 points to 594.31 Friday, ending the week up 1.83 points and the month down 77.18 points. Joe Mimran has filed a preliminary prospectus to list a special purpose acquisition corporation, Gibraltar Growth Corp. The SPAC's brokers, three banks plus Cantor Fitzgerald & Co., are in charge of selling 10 million Class A restricted voting units at $10 for $100-million. Each unit will comprise one share and one-half of a warrant; whole warrants will be exercisable at $11.50 for five years, starting 30 days after the SPAC completes a qualifying transaction. Gibraltar says it will search for businesses in North American that have an enterprise value of up to $750-million.

Mr. Mimran, Gibraltar's chairman and co-chief executive officer, has founded several well-known fashion labels, including Club Monaco and Joe Fresh. He launched the Joe Fresh line of clothing for Loblaw Co. (L: $71.32) in 2005 as the supermarket's response to Walmart Canada, which had launched its George clothing line. Mr. Mimran resigned from Joe Fresh in March, 2015, by which time his clothes were available in 350 Loblaw stores and 20 separate Joe Fresh stores.
