West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery lost 46 cents to $56.09 on the New York Merc, while Brent for January lost 50 cents to $62.22 (all figures in this para U.S.). Western Canadian Select traded at a discount of $15.60 to WTI ($40.49), up from a discount of $15.20. Natural gas for December closed down five cents to $3.05. The TSX energy index fell 3.47 points to 188.36.
