New York spot gold fell $12.80 to $1,310.40 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 15.58 points to 790.35 while the TSX Gold Index lost 11.74 points to 231.53. Canadian gold miners tumbled today. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) fell $2.90 to $66.51 on 1.09 million shares while Kirkland Lake Gold Inc. (KGI) dropped 71 cents to $10.82 on 1.07 million shares and Yamana Gold Inc. (YRI) fell 40 cents to $5.40 on 16.18 million shares.

Jonathan Awde's Gold Standard Ventures Corp. (GSV), down 15 cents to $3.10 on 751,000 shares, has received assays of up to 3.17 grams of gold per tonne over 65.6 metres from one of two holes drilled at its North Bullion deposit on the Railroad-Pinion project in Nevada. The hit included an 8.5-metre interval that averaged 11.16 grams per tonne. The second hole hit a 9.5-metre zone that assayed 1.18 grams per tonne. Mr. Awde, chief executive officer, says that Gold Standard may be in the early stages of exploring one of the prolific high-grade, collapse breccia-hosted deposits on the Carlin trend at North Bullion, adding that the deposit, Gold Standard's first discovery at Railroad-Pinion, "remains potentially the most significant in the long term."
