Yamana Gold Inc. (YRI) led the few losers. It slid 23 cents to $7.47 on 9.16 million shares.
Luca Bechis and Dr. Quinton Hennigh's Novo Resources Corp. (NVO), up four cents to 89 cents on 106,000 shares, has begun bulk sampling at its Beatons Creek gold project in Western Australia. The work is needed to provide more data for the company's planned preliminary economic assessment.
