New York spot gold lost $8.50 to $1,237.90 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 2.85 points to 511.14 while the TSX Gold Index rose 3.57 points to 180.84. Goldcorp Inc. (G) led Canadian gold miners, gaining 79 cents to $21.71 on 7.48 million shares. New Gold Inc. (AGI) was one of a few laggards, dropping one cent to $4.09 on 3.94 million shares.

Ron Netolitzky and Walter Coles's Skeena Resources Ltd. (SKE), unchanged at 7.5 cents on 156,000 shares, has found five new gold targets on the northern part of its GJ property in northwest British Columbia through a review of old data. Mr. Coles, president and chief executive officer, is fond of telling investors that the 38,000-hectare GJ property received a $25-million look from previous explorers between 2002 and 2014. Most of that work occurred in the central area, which hosts a measured and indicated resource of 133.7 million tonnes at 0.36 gram of gold per tonne and 0.32 per cent copper, and another 53.7 million inferred at somewhat lower grades.
