New York spot gold closed up $7.90 to $1,064.50 Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 0.26 points to 521.99 while the TSX Gold Index lost 2.94 points to 122.53. Most Canadian gold miners moved higher today. Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX) gained 36 cents to $9.83 on 5.97 million shares. Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI) was one of a few going the other way. It lost one cent to $4.06 on 1.16 million shares.

Neil Woodyer and Frank Giustra's Endeavour Mining Corp. (EDV), up three cents to 63 cents on 834,000 shares, has acquired a 55-per-cent interest in the Ity gold mine in Ivory Coast. The company also got $63-million (U.S.) in cash, and potentially a further investment of $75-million (U.S.) more, through a deal with Naguib Sawris and Sebastien de Montessus's La Mancha Holding SARL. La Mancha gets 177.1 million Endeavour shares in exchange, about 30 per cent of its total outstanding. (Those shares will be rolled back 1:10 later this week, a move that was resoundingly approved by shareholders early this month.)
