New York spot gold closed down $8.50 to $1,068.70 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 0.51 point to 521.16 while the TSX Gold Index dropped 0.40 point to 121.74. Yamana Gold Inc. (YRI) led the gainers among Canadian gold miners today. It rose five cents to $2.46 on 3.09 million shares. Detour Gold Corp. (DGC) had the largest loss today, dropping 37 cents to $12.79 on 1.64 million shares.

Douglas Eaton and Bruce Youngman's Silver Range Resources Ltd. (SNG), up one-half cent to three cents on 230,000 shares, is inching ahead with its Silver Range project, near the "exceptional infrastructure" of Faro in east-central Yukon. The company has spent over $24-million on the play since 2011, little of it over the past two years. Mr. Eaton, president and chief executive officer, says no work occurred during 2014 and just some metallurgical research took place this this year -- all of it done by a doctoral candidate at the University of Alberta.
