New York spot gold closed down $8.70 to $1,125 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 3.7 points to 553.75 while the TSX Gold Index dropped 3.12 points to 121.76. Gold miners in Canada lost ground again today, led by Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM), which dropped $1.23 to $30.06 on 1.66 million shares and Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD), which slipped 14 cents to $3.65 on 5.01 million shares. The best performance came from New Gold Inc. (NGD), which closed unchanged at $2.91 on 2.36 million shares.

Jeff Pontius and Russell Myers's Corvus Gold Inc. (KOR), up 1.5 cents to 46 cents on 4,000 shares, has sold 4.26 million shares at 47 cents to Resource Capital Fund VI LP. Mr. Pontius, founder and CEO, says bringing Resource Capital Fund VI into the "Corvus family of major long-term investors" is a big deal as it adds depth to the company's shareholder base. (The Corvus family may have grown, but it cannot be a particularly happy family: Corvus's stock has been falling relentlessly since it traded at $2.10 in early 2014.)
