The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a bleak 46-85-126. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 13 points to 804 while polished diamond prices rose 0.2 per cent. Quentin Yarie's Honey Badger Exploration Inc. (TUF) fell one-half cent to 1.5 cents on 420,000 shares. The company has been silent for months, which is always a promotion killer.

Patrick Evans's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD), down one cent to $4.52 on 359,000 shares, gave its strongest sign yet that investors must rein in their expectations regarding the company's diamond sales from the new Gahcho Kue mine in the Northwest Territories. Mr. Evans, president and chief executive officer, released Mountain Province's production guidance for 2017 today and while the production grades are in line with the company's feasibility target, its diamond sales are clearly not. Mountain Province now says that it "anticipates achieving a realized diamond price for the balance of 2017" of between $70 (U.S.) and $90 (U.S.) per carat.
