The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a positive 68-62-126. The TSX Venture Exchange gained seven points to 812 while polished diamond prices inched upward. Dermot Desmond and Patrick Evans's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD) slid 60 cents to $4.56 on 1.10 million shares amid worries about its cash flow from the Gahcho Kue mine in the Northwest Territories.
Grenville Thomas and Ken Armstrong's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR) lost four cents to 29.5 cents on 211,000 shares. Mr. Armstrong, president and chief executive officer, says his company "will be going to market in the near term" to raise as much as $5-million in new cash for its energetic plans to advance its Naujaat project, near Repulse Bay in central Nunavut. (He made the comment in a six-minute interview played Tuesday morning on Business News Network and the promotion pushed North Arrow's weary stock, which closed Monday at 25 cents, as high as 45 cents in intraday trading.)
