The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was an upbeat 82-57-119. The TSX Venture Exchange gained five points to 843 while polished diamond prices inched higher. Dermot Desmond and Patrick Evans's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD) lost nine cents to $6.14 on 233,000 shares. Investors are hoping the company will have better success with its second sale of diamonds from Gahcho Kue than it did with its first. The new sale starts next week.
Grenville Thomas and Kenneth Armstrong's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR), down one-half cent to 18.5 cents on 62,000 shares, has acquired a remaining 18-per-cent interest in the Qilalugaq diamond project in central Nunavut from Stornoway Diamond Corp. (SWY: $0.86). North Arrow is issuing two million shares, a payment that also covers Stornoway's remaining 15-per-cent interest in the Pikoo project in Northern Saskatchewan. (Stornoway retains a modest royalty at Qilalugaq and it will be entitled to a $2.5-million cash payment should North Arrow ever get Qilalugaq into production.)
