The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a weak 56-70-139. The TSX Venture Exchange fell fractionally to 784 while polished diamond prices edged lower. Lukas Lundin's Lucara Diamond Corp. (LUC) lost 12 cents to $4.04 on 1.21 million shares. The company will hold its next auction of large and exceptional diamonds from its Karowe mine in Botswana in early November.
Grenville Thomas and Ken Armstrong's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR), down one-half cent to 19 cents on 32,000 shares, is not giving up on diamonds. (Other than at Redemption, that is, where it recently dropped its option to earn a majority interest from Patrick Power's Arctic Star Exploration Corp. (ADD: $0.02). Years of unsuccessful drilling programs on that Lac de Gras property have apparently convinced Mr. Armstrong, North Arrow's president and chief executive officer, that the promising till sample indicators found on and west of Redemption came from farther east. North Arrow acted on that hunch in mid-September, staking its Loki claims south and east of Redemption.)
