The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a pleasant 79-57-129. The TSX Venture Exchange gained four points to 770 while polished diamond prices inched higher. Matt Manson's Stornoway Diamond Corp. (SWY) fell three cents to $1.11 on 3.23 million shares. The stock, 65 cents a year ago, soared to a recent high of $1.20 after the company declared its Renard mine in Northern Quebec to be in production, ahead of schedule and below budget.
Dermot Desmond and Dr. Rory Moore's Kennady Diamonds Inc. (KDI), down two cents to $4.19 on 4,000 shares, has the results of a mini-bulk test of Faraday-2, another of several small but rich kimberlites at Kennady North, 10 kilometres northeast of Gahcho Kue in the Northwest Territories. The 21.1-tonne batch of kimberlite yielded 857 diamonds larger than a 0.85-millimetre sieve. The gems weighed 56.64 carats, an average of 2.69 carats pet tonne. The three largest gems weighed 1.9, 1.73 and 1.52 carats respectively.
