The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a disappointing 49-89-128. The TSX Venture Exchange fell seven points to 702 while polished diamond prices fell 0.2 per cent. Nicholas Houghton's True North Gems Inc. (TGX) lost one cent to 9.5 cents on 1.93 million shares. Spring has come and gone without the company getting its Aappaluttoq ruby and sapphire mine into production.
Brendan Bell and Robert Gannicott's Dominion Diamond Corp. (DDC) lost 61 cents to $11.48 on 277,000 shares. The company provided more details about the "incident" -- otherwise known as a fire -- that broke out early Thursday morning in the processing plant at Ekati. Several hours later Dominion said the fire had been "contained," but it did not reveal any details of the damage or the potential ramifications to the mine. (Investors usually react badly to missing details surrounding bad news, but they were surprisingly patient, as Dominion's stock shrugged off the news.)
