The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a ho-hum 48-46-142. The TSX Venture Exchange gained four points to 529 while polished diamond prices fell 0.5 per cent. Ken MacNeill and George Read's Shore Gold Inc. (SGF) closed unchanged at 13 cents on 385,000 shares. The company's stock, 30 cents in April, is hovering just above its all-time low of 11.5 cents. A long wait for environmental approval from the Saskatchewan government and some negative press account for the slide. Glenn Kelly's Orbite Technologies Inc. (ORT) had nothing to say but its stock jumped three cents to 30 cents on 3.42 million shares.
Nicholas Houghton's True North Gems Inc. (TGX), up one-half cent to 12.5 cents on 1,000 shares, is pouring concrete for its processing plant at Aappaluttoq, its soon-to-be ruby and sapphire mine in western Greenland. The concrete work should set by the end of October, allowing True North to erect the building's steel structure "in due course." (It had best be a quick course -- the company wants the building enclosed and insulated by November so it can install temperature-sensitive crushing and recovery equipment.)
