The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was an upbeat 45-37-169. The TSX Venture Exchange gained two points to 550 while polished diamond prices were flat. Matt Manson's Stornoway Diamond Corp. (SWY) closed unchanged at 78 cents on 214,000 shares. Stornoway, which is in the midst of building its $850-million diamond mine at Renard in Northern Quebec, has held up well through the latest resource sector slump despite a dearth of news. (The stock did trade as high as 86 cents in June, but it is well above a 46-cent low set late last year.) The recent decline in rough diamond prices is not an immediate concern, as production is not expected until the spring of 2017. Guy Bourassa's Nemaska Lithium Inc. (NMX), 20 cents last week, gained another 2.5 cents to 31 cents on 1.93 million shares. There is no recent news from Nemaska, which is mired in the bureaucratic stage at its Whabouchi lithium play in Northern Quebec.
