The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a weak 44-46-161. The TSX Venture Exchange gained three points to 529 while polished diamond prices were flat. Kenneth MacNeill and George Read's Shore Gold Inc. (SGF) reclaimed one-half cent to 14.5 cents on 266,000 shares. The company is stuck in financial limbo until it can find the $2-billion for its Star-Orion South mine in central Saskatchewan. Glenn Kelly's Orbite Technologies Inc. (ORT) gained one cent to 23 cent on 662,000 shares. Orbite hopes to have its high-purity alumina plant on Gaspe peninsula in production before the end of the year.
Terry Tucker's Tango Mining Inc. (TGV), up one-half cent to three cents on 30,000 shares, has an updated resource estimate for BK11, the kimberlite in the Orapa district of Botswana that the company thinks could be the next Karowe. (Lucara Diamond Corp. (LUC: $1.63) spent $200-million acquiring Karowe and putting it into production; it has since topped projections by a wide margin.) Unfortunately, BK11 will have to beat Tango's initial projections by an even wider margin to match Karowe's performance.
