The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a ho-hum 42-41-168 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell two points to 584. Polished diamond prices, slightly lower today, are off nearly 15 per cent in the past four years. Robert Gannicott and Brendan Bell's Dominion Diamond Corp. (DDC) nevertheless rebounded 68 cents to $16.09 on 535,000 shares. Dominion, which resumed paying a dividend of 40 U.S. cents earlier this year has since increased its yield increase the hard way: the stock had lost over $9 in the past two months amid worries about declining diamond prices. Glenn Kelly's Orbite Technologies Inc. (ORT) gained 1.75 cents to 24.25 cents on 939,000 shares. Orbite will disclose its second quarter financial results on Friday, and will presumably update investors about progress at its seemingly never-ending construction of a high purity alumina plant on Gaspe peninsula. The plant is well over budget and nearly two years behind schedule but Mr. Kelly hopes to have it ready late this year.
