The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a poor 33-57-161. The TSX Venture Exchange fell seven points to 663 while polished diamond prices inched lower. Eric Friedland's Peregrine Diamonds Ltd. (PGD) gained one cent to 23.5 cents on 161,000 shares. The stock soared to 38.5 cents from 20 cents in mid-April but has since found its way back. The company is awaiting results of a 500-tonne mini-bulk test of CH-7, one of several promising Chidliak pipes on southeastern Baffin Island. Earlier results suggested a grade of one carat per tonne. Adriaan Bakker's Vanadiumcorp Resource Inc. (VRB) closed unchanged at three cents on 1.02 million shares. Vanadiumcorp is touting Lac Dore, a big vanadium deposit in Northern Quebec where it produced a resource estimate earlier this year. A preliminary economic assessment is "currently under way." The way would be made easier if Mr. Bakker can close his planned sale of 14 million five-cent shares.
