The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a ho-hum 49-46-154 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell one point to 680. Polished diamond prices gained 1 per cent. Patrick Evans's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPV) gained 13 cents to $4.61 on 420,000 shares. The company expects its $95-million rights offering to close today; probable since the company's major shareholder, Dermot Desmond, said he would take up all the rights left unexercised by the company's lesser shareholders. The cash is needed as a cost overrun facility for the company's Gahcho Kue mine, currently under construction in the Northwest Territories. Glenn Kelly's Orbite Aluminae Inc. (ORT) closed unchanged at 31.5 cents on 2.51 million shares. Orbite will reveal its 2014 financial results after the close Tuesday, and discuss them with investors on April 1. Shareholders undoubtedly hope Mr. Kelly, CEO, was not fooling late last year when he said the company's high-purity alumina plant would be complete late this summer, in accordance with its oft-delayed schedule and frequently increased budget.
