The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a poor 42-75-148. The TSX Venture Exchange fell three points to 909 while polished diamond prices fell 0.3 per cent. Robert Gannicott's Dominion Diamond Corp. (DDC) jumped 59 cents to $15.91 on 565,000 shares. There was no news to account for the stock hitting an intraday high of $16.42. Dominion's two diamond mines are running well and it plans to start mining a few new kimberlites over the next few years. Mr. Gannicott says details of those plans will be available soon. Cristiano Melcher's MBAC Fertilizer Corp. (MBC) gained one-half cent to 14.5 cents on 4.11 million shares. MBAC is ramping up production of single superphosphate and sulphuric acid at its Itafos mine in Brazil. It hopes to reach full production "in the coming weeks." Unfortunately, the company's cash is going faster than the weeks are coming, so Mr. Melcher, CEO, may sell some of MBAC's assets to get Itafos up to speed.
