The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Friday was a positive but slow 52-44-165. The TSX Venture Exchange gained six points to 1,012 while diamond prices were steady. Grenville Thomas's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR), up seven cents to 81 cents on 96,000 shares, has spent much of the year near its 84-cent high. North Arrow, one of Canada's busiest diamond explorers again this year, is putting most of its effort this summer into a $3.7-million, 1,000-tonne mini-bulk sample of the Q1-4 pipe at Qilalugaq, in central Nunavut. North Arrow is also drilling at Redemption, west of Lac de Gras, and is seeking new targets at Pikoo, in Northern Saskatchewan. John Kanellitsas and Thomas Hodgson's Lithium Americas Corp. (LAC) lost 2.5 cents to 23 cents on 354,000 shares. Lithium Americas says it is developing one of the world's largest and lowest cost lithium brine deposits at Cauchari-Olaroz, in northern Argentina. If so, it is doing it quietly. The company has said nothing about the project since it raised $18.5-million in a rights offering this spring, in which it sold 77.3 million shares at 24 cents.
