The Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada has imposed a permanent ban and $120,000 in sanctions on Henry Sojka, a former Union Securities Ltd. employee. IIROC said that Mr. Sojka carried out improper trades in the account of his niece that generated $177,465 in commissions. The trading was not suitable, given the age of his niece, her lack of experience and her vulnerability, IIROC has determined.

The penalties are contained in a decision that IIROC released on Friday, Oct. 28. The regulator held a hearing for Mr. Sojka on Aug. 18, 2016, in Vancouver. He did not attend nor did he send a representative. In imposing the sanctions, IIROC found that Mr. Sojka's conduct was sufficient to warrant a permanent ban from the industry. He carried out 93 transactions that were either intentional or reckless, the decision states. The only mitigating factor was his lack of a prior disciplinary record.

Mr. Sojka's penalty includes a $50,000 fine for unsuitable and unauthorized discretionary trading. He must also pay $50,000 for failure to co-operate and must pay IIROC's costs of $20,000. The penalty was handed down by a three-member IIROC panel headed by Winton Derby (a former lawyer and pro tem provincial court judge).

Watch this youtube video of BCSC employees being served documents to appear in front of a judge in Chile to answer questions about Barrick Gold. If they do not appear then the summons is converted into a global arrest warrant. True to the end just like school yard bullies, all they could respond with was we are going to to do a compelled interview on Nov 18. FYI this case has been on going since 1998 and just now you wish to do a compelled interview.

There are employees from IIROC regarding this same matter who will be served the same summons.
