The Financial Post reports in its Wednesday, Aug. 13, edition that StoneCastle Investment Management portfolio manager Bruce Campbell recommends selling West Fraser Timber ($48.05), Canfor ($22.50) and Western Forest Products ($2.42). The Post's Jonathan Ratner writes in the Buy & Sell column that Mr. Campbell unloaded his forestry shares over the past three months or so. Mr. Campbell says, "We saw valuations come up fairly strongly and the house-building numbers in the U.S. start to flatten." He says the forestry sector could see some positive action if the home building figures in the United States improve. John Goldsmith, at Monstrusco Bolton, said buy Western Forest Products in the Buy & Sell column on April 23. He said he had bought Western Forest Product shares earlier in the year. He said the company was trading at a lower valuation multiple than its peers. The shares could then be had for $2.26. JC Clark's Preservation Trust portfolio managers Colin Stewart and John Dynes recommended buying Western Forest Products in the Buy & Sell column on June 13. The managers said Western Forest Products should benefit from the U.S. housing recovery. The shares could then be had for $2.10.
