Dines says buy Tasman for its heavy rare earths

2015-05-18 22:08 ET - In the News

James Dines, writing in a May 8, 2015, issue of The Dines Letter, says buy Tasman Metals Ltd. at 70 cents. The editor recommended the stock seven times between March 5, 2010, and July 25, 2014, at prices ranging from 65 cents to $3.90. An investment of $1,000 for each of the seven buys would now be worth $3,860. The European Commission's ad hoc working group on defining critical raw materials has identified heavy rare earths as the most at-risk raw material for the European Union. Mr. Dines says Tasman's Norra Karr rare earth deposit in Sweden is Europe's only 43-101-compliant, Western-friendly, heavy rare earth project. The heavy rare earth market segment positioned for the greatest growth, he notes, is the field of high-strength, permanent magnets. Permanent magnets, produced with rare earths extracted from Chinese mines, he says, are now consumed by all participants in Europe's industrial sectors. Meanwhile, Tasman's Norra Karr project remains available to Europe to form the basis of a long-lived and sustainable European supply chain. The company would not have to compete with any existing European businesses, Mr. Dines says, and he notes that the European Commission could afford to finance the project to production.
