The Globe and Mail reports in its Saturday, Jan. 3, edition that BMO Nesbitt Burns added BCE to its list of best investment ideas among Canadian large-cap stocks. The Globe's Luke Kawa, Tim Shufelt and Darcy Keith write in the Eye On Equities column that the BMO's top 15 Canadian large-cap list, which highlights BMO's top stock picks based on fundamental analysis, includes names like Alimentation Couche-Tard, Suncor Energy, Magna International, Canadian National Railway and a number of large Canadian financials. The list has realized a five-year annual return of 10.8 per cent, compared with the total return posted by the S&P/TSX 60 index of 7.3 per cent over the same time frame. BCE's latest quarter bested expectations in all three of the company's operating units, with the wireless business generating double-digit earnings growth, note BMO analysts. Subscriber metrics were largely above expectations, with strong results in wireless postpaid and Fibe Internet, he says. BCE also reaffirmed its 2014 guidance. BMO, which has a 12-month price target on the stock of $53, expects organic earnings growth in the low single digits through 2016.
