Inv Reporter says buy Magna International

2014-12-05 18:56 ET - In the News

The Investment Reporter, in its Nov. 28, 2014, issue, says buy Magna International Inc., recently $117.30. The Reporter said buy 19 times from Dec. 1, 1995, to Jan. 31, 2014, at prices ranging from $34.63 to $105.73 (the stock split 2 for 1 on Nov. 12, 2010). A $1,000 investment for each of the 19 buys would now be worth $50,321. The auto parts supplier is profiting from strong demand for vehicles. It earned $1.37-billion or $6.26 a share in the first nine months of 2014, up from $1.1-billion or $4.74 a share in 2013 (all figures in U.S. dollars). Revenue rose by 6.2 per cent to $27.2-billion, outpacing the 4.6-per-cent increase in costs. Higher cash flow of $2.15-billion confimed higher earnings, and exceeded net investments and dividend payments. The extra cash should keep the company's net-debt-free balance sheet healthy. Magna International is well diversified not only geographically, but also by product offering. It expects to earn $8.78 a share in 2014, up from $7.23 a share last year. Earnings are set to jump to $10.17 a share in 2015, giving it an attractive forward P/E ratio of 10.2 times. Magna remains a buy for long-term gains and rising dividends.
