LED DENTAL ANNOUNCES 3SHAPE DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT

LED Medical Diagnostics Inc. has entered an agreement that makes LED Medical subsidiary LED Dental the newest provider of 3Shape's 3-D intraoral digital impression and desktop scanners.

Under the terms of the agreement, LED Dental will become a distributor to the orthodontic market for the Trios line of products, including the new Trios 3 digital impressioning system introduced by 3Shape during the 2015 IDS Exhibition. Boasting a new, more compact hand-piece design; RealColor intraoral photography; and flexible hardware configurations, the Trios 3 can perform a variety of digital tasks for both general dental and orthodontic practices.

"Since building our digital imaging product portfolio over a year ago, we've had a great deal of success in the orthodontic space, which is where we plan to focus our efforts for the 3Shape Trios product line," stated Lamar Roberts, president of LED Dental. "3Shape's state-of-the-art digital impressioning technologies strengthen our product portfolio, allowing us to offer orthodontists the very best digital technology available to facilitate a patient's diagnosis, treatment planning and subsequent treatment."

Dr. Jeffrey Brooks, vice-president of imaging for LED Dental, sees the myriad of benefits that come with introducing intraoral scanning technologies during the planning of orthodontic treatments. "Utilizing 3Shape's advanced scanning technologies and related software opens up digital workflow for the orthodontist." Dr. Brooks continued: "The capability to quickly acquire full-colour 3-D scans of the patient's dentition and related structures negates the need for putty impressions and gypsum models and opens up new opportunities for diagnosis, treatment simulation and patient understanding. 3Shape scans also integrate and index with the patient's CBCT image data, allowing practitioners to take much of the guesswork out of treatment planning."
